Are you committed to working with people and communities in east London to tackle race and faith discrimination and assist them in accessing justice?

Since 1981, Newham Monitoring Project (NMP) has become one of the country's most respected independent anti-racist organisations by putting political vision into practice. We provide immediate and specialist casework support to people, including a 24-hour emergency helpline, and monitor the response of statutory bodies to ensure fair and equal treatment. NMP also undertakes community outreach work including provision of training with local communities.

Community Outreach Worker (part-time) • 21 hours pw • £ 14,004 inc. OLW (pro-rata amount)

Post to start immediately, guaranteed funding until March 31st 2009. Possibility of continuation of post after March 2009, subject to funding.

We are seeking a dynamic individual with excellent organisational and communication skills, experience of the voluntary and community sectors and a positive commitment to furthering an anti-racist agenda. This post will primarily involve developing partnerships and capacity building community groups across east London to address under reporting of race/faith hate crime. Post includes a minor element of casework.

Project Officer (full-time) – Casework & Community Development • 35 hours pw • £23, 340 inc. OLW

Locum post to start immediately, running until March 31st 2009. Possibility of continuation of post after March 2009, subject to funding.

With excellent people skills and a proven track record of community and / or advice work, you will have take a leading role in delivering our advice and support services primarily to Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in east London. This post involves developing and maintaining our 24-hour telephone Emergency Service, responding to casework arising from it and leading relevant community development projects particularly with refugee communities.
